EX3

The Need for a Teen Center

The Sammamish EX3 Teen & Recreation Center – a partnership between the City of Sammamish and the Boys & Girls Club – is located near three area high schools, a junior high, and a middle school on the plateau – a total of more than 6,000 students in need of a place to spend out-of-school time. In fact, 1/3 of Sammamish residents are under 18.

The Boys & Girls Club Strategy

We are creating spaces and programs that encourage teens to explore new opportunities and challenges, open them to new experiences, and get them excited about their unique skills and interests that will allow them to become productive, responsible and caring citizens.

A Safe, Fun, Enriching Place for Sammamish Teens

The centrally located site, at 228th Ave NE and NE Inglewood Hill Road, is close to other youth destinations such as the new skate park, fast food restaurants, a bookstore, and GameStop. The high visibility of this prominent corner site is ideal for attracting teens, and will ensure a high level of community awareness and support.

Improvements to the 10,000 square foot building include:

    • Technology lab
    • Performance stage
    • Teaching kitchen
    • Study space
    • Games room
    • Multi-purpose space
    • Future gymnasium

Community Access

There will be multiple uses for the entire community. The EX3 Teen & Recreation Center will also be appropriate for a wide range of activities directed at seniors, families with small children, and other community members in Sammamish during school hours. The opportunities provided by programming at the EX3 Teen & Recreation Center align with current research on seniors; more than ever before, aging adults desire lifelong learning opportunities and support for a healthy, active lifestyle.

The Center will include:
• Meeting / Gathering Space
• Game Playing
• Physical Activities
• Educational and Wellness Classes
• Video / Image Production and Editing Classes
• Support Groups

We Need You!

Although over $1 million for the renovation has been raised from corporate, foundation, and individual gifts, we still need to raise $250,000 in contributions for operating costs and $3-$3.5 million in capital funds to build the gym. To make an online donation to support operating costs please click here: Donate now.  If you are interested in supporting the gym or would like to make a multi-year pledge please contact Jeremy Peck or Jane Ronngren at the contact info below.  Thank you for your support!
